Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners Meeting
Join us on Wednesday, November 5th at 6:30PM at the Board Room of the Washtenaw County Administration Building, 220 N. Main Street, Ann Arbor, MI 48104. The Board of Commissioners will be voting on a few items that are important to the work of the WFPC.
The WFPC supports that the Board of Commissioners approve the following:
1. Environmentally Preferred Purchasing – to amend the Washtenaw County Procurement Policy (for County government employees) to mandate foodservice ware and packaging that is reusable, compostable, or recyclable. This is from our Policy Agenda Item #5.
2. The Local Vendor Preference Purchasing Policy – to change the County Procurement Policy (for County government employees) to give preference for locally grown, processed and prepared foods (along with local goods and services). This is from our Policy Agenda Item #4.
3. The WFPC Policy Agenda
– we are asking the Board of Commissioners to endorse the agenda to show their support for our work.
If you can’t attend the meeting, contact your County Commissioner (to find the Commissioner in your district, click here) to let him/her know that you want them to approve these issues that support and strengthen our local food system and economy!
